Brand Your Portal
Set the name, logo, colors, and theme patients see everywhere.
This page shows you how to brand your patient portal. You set your name, logo, colors, and theme once. Patients then see your brand at sign-in, in the portal, in emails, and at checkout.
You do this as a Client Admin. Client Staff cannot open Settings, so they cannot change branding.
Before you start
Have these ready:
Your icon image: a square (1:1) PNG, at least 256 px wide.
Your logo image: a wide (3:1) PNG or SVG, at least 512 px wide, with a see-through background.
Your brand colors as hex codes, like #1F6F54. Pick a dark main color.
Your support email, website address, and phone number.
Who does what: You set this up yourself. Your provider network (the medical team that employs the doctors who review your patients) does not touch your brand. You do not need GEN Health support.
Time: About 15 minutes. Your changes go live right away. There is no waiting.
Heads up — branding changes go live the moment you save. There is no separate publish button. Patients see each change at once. So check your work as you go.
Set your brand
Open the Branding page
In the left menu, click Settings. On the Settings page, under Account settings, click the Branding card. The Branding page opens. You see a card called Business brand.
Upload your icon
Find Icon. It is used for the browser tab icon and square brand spots. Click Click or drag to upload icon. Crop it to a square in the Crop Client Icon window. The new icon shows on the card.
Upload your logo
Find Logo. Click Change Logo and pick your file. Crop it to a wide shape in the Crop Client Logo window. If your logo is dark, turn on the light-background toggle so it stays visible. You can set the Size to Small, Medium, or Large.
Add your name and contact details
Fill in Brand name. This is the public name patients see. Then fill in Website, Support email, and Phone number. Patient email replies go to your support email. Each field saves on its own. Click the check mark to keep a change. You see the toast Branding updated.
Pick your font and theme
Choose a Header font. Then set Portal theme to Light or Dark. This sets the background style of the patient portal.
Set your brand colors
In Brand colors, set the primary, secondary, background, and sidebar-header colors. The primary color is used for buttons. Choose it with care. Read the warning below first.
Watch your primary color — a very light primary color can hide the patient sign-in button. The button uses white text. If the color behind it is too light, patients cannot see the button.
| Choice | Primary color | What patients see |
|---|---|---|
| Good | A dark color, like deep blue or dark green | White text stands out. The sign-in button is easy to find. |
| Bad | A very light color, like pale yellow or light gray | White text disappears. The sign-in button looks blank. |
Check it as a patient
Open your patient sign-in page in a private browser window. Make sure the sign-in button is easy to see. Click through the portal and check your logo and colors. Fix anything that looks wrong, then check again.
Optional — turn on Virtual background to show your logo behind the provider during video visits. Click See example to preview it first. You can skip this and add it later.
