Set Up Labs
Turn on lab tests, set their prices, choose how patients see them, and link follow-on products.
This page shows you how to turn on lab tests, set their prices, and choose how patients see them. You do this on the Labs page. You need to be a Client Admin.
Before you start
Have these ready:
Labs turned on for your organization by your provider network (the medical team that employs the doctors who review your patients)
Your platform payment method connected
The price you want each lab to cost the patient
A product image for each lab, if you want one (PNG or JPG, square, at least 512 px wide)
Who does what: Your provider network turns labs on for your organization. You set the names, prices, and what patients see. You cannot add a lab your network has not turned on.
Time: About 15 to 30 minutes, once labs are on for you. Waiting for your network to turn labs on can take a few days.
See zero labs, or a message that labs need approval? Your provider network has not turned labs on for your organization yet. Ask your network contact first. You also need your platform payment method connected. See Pharmacy Integrations.
Open the Labs page
In the left menu, click Labs. The Labs page opens. You see a table of your lab tests.
Open a lab to edit
Click the lab you want to sell. The Edit lab panel opens.
Turn the lab on
In the panel, turn on Active. The lab is now active for your organization.
Show the lab to patients
Turn on Storefront (labeled Show lab on storefront). Patients can now see and buy this lab when they browse.
Set the name and price
Fill in Display name (the name patients see) and Display description. Set Patient total to the price the patient pays. The panel also lists Markers (the things the lab measures, like cholesterol or vitamin D). Click Save.
Turn on many labs at once
To turn on several labs together, select the labs you want. Then open the Bulk actions menu. Choose Set status and pick Activate. You can also use Update price and Set categories in the same menu.
Link a follow-on product
In the Edit lab panel, use Linked products to attach a product. After a lab result comes back, your staff can offer that product to the patient.
Test one purchase
Buy one lab with a test patient account to confirm checkout works. A 100%-off coupon lets you test without paying. See Coupons.
Do not lose money on a lab. Set Patient total high enough to cover your costs and leave a profit. You can change it any time.
When you change a lab's price, storefront setting, or linked products, you change what patients can buy. You also change what staff can offer after results. Check both after you edit.
