Pair Medications
Link each product to the right medicine and pharmacy on the Formulary page, and check the cost before you set a price.
This page shows you how to link each product to the right medicine. You do this on the Formulary page — your medication menu. You need to be a Client Admin.
Don't see Formulary in your left menu? Your OnlyScripts pharmacy connection is not on yet. Turn it on first. See Pharmacy Integrations.
Before you start
Have these ready:
Your OnlyScripts pharmacy connection turned on
The list of products you want to sell
The price you plan to charge for each — but check the medicine cost here first
Who does what: You pair the medicines. Your provider network (the licensed doctors who review orders and prescribe) supplies the products and medicines. OnlyScripts supplies the pharmacy price.
Time: About 5 minutes per product once OnlyScripts is on. Turning OnlyScripts on happens first.
What a pairing is
A pairing links one product to one medicine at one pharmacy, with a price. When a patient buys the product, the order knows which medicine to send.
You can only pair products from your provider network. You cannot pair products you made yourself.
One pairing, filled in
Here is what a finished pairing looks like:
| Part | Example |
|---|---|
| Your product | Weight Care Plan |
| Medicine | Semaglutide 0.25 mg weekly |
| Pharmacy | OnlyScripts |
| Pharmacy price | $180 |
| Shipping | $15 |
| Your cost | $195 |
| Price you charge the patient | $299 |
Your cost is $195. You charge $299. Your profit is $104.
Important — the price you set is the full amount the patient pays. It must cover the medicine, the shipping, and your profit. Check the medicine cost on the Formulary page before you set your price in Add Products. If you guess, you can lose money on every sale.
Pair a medicine, step by step
Open the Formulary page
In the left menu, click Formulary. The page opens. You see a list of your provider network's products.
Find the product to pair
Use the filters at the top of the list. Show the unmapped rows. These are products with no medicine yet.
Check the medicine cost
Look at the price and shipping columns. They show what the pharmacy charges you. Write the total down. You need it to set a safe price.
Pair the medicine
Click the product to open the Formulary mapping sheet. Choose the medicine and pharmacy option that matches the product. Confirm your choice.
Check that it worked
The product moves from unmapped to mapped. Open the product and click its Formulary tab. The tab shows the pairing count.
You can also pair from a product. Open the product, then click the Formulary tab. Pair from there the same way.
A product with no pairing cannot reach a pharmacy. Its orders stop with no error message. Watch for the amber needs pairing alert on your Dashboard. You can also use the unmapped filter on the Formulary page to find products that still need a medicine. Fix them before you go live.
Test it. After you pair, run one test order. This confirms the medicine flows to the pharmacy.
Keep pairings healthy
Pairings can break over time. Products retire. Pharmacies change what they carry. A broken pairing is called stale.
Use the stale filter to find them. Re-pair each one. Do a quick check after any change to your products or pharmacy.
